The motif kobe morena or ‘female kobe’ is the primary motif of the maternal lineage wini Ga Lena. In the narrative remembered in Mesara, Dila Tede sailed to the island of Solor (East of Flores island); there she used the name of her ancestress Ga Lena, met the local ruler and helped him to win over enemies. As compensation she was given the raja’s heirloom basket, sailed back to Savu and founded the maternal lineage wini Ga Lena; the motif kobe morena she created is said to have been represented on the raja’s basket.
